Hexed to Travel

My current fascination with hexagons has given me a great take along project.  However, it had become apparent I needed a handy travel kit for carrying my scissors, needles, pins, papers, fabric and assorted odds and ends.

I followed a great tutorial by Lots of Pink Here.  It was fairly quick and easy to do, and I had a finish all in one day.

I had a rummage through my stash and pulled a piece of purple fabric that I had been hording.

I also used purple dots, positive and negative and a paisley pattern I had picked up in a Spotlight sale.

They work quite well together.  The scissor holder is a piece of ‘linen look’ fabric with pink hearts.  I also made a little hexagon, to go with the purpose of the kit.

The quilting has been done with straight lines, with the bird being outlined.

On a reconnaissance mission for papers today, I indulged in Kaffe which is bound for diamonds.  Might go cut some now to take on my night shift!

I have promised mum a travel kit too, and these fat quarters will be perfect for a similar little travel bundle.
