Spring has sprung

School holiday’s are in full swing here.

What better way to enjoy the delightful spring weather, which Melbourne has turned on, than to have a picnic in the back yard.

 Hats,

sunscreen,

colouring books and pens,

letting your sister paint your nails,

 and FAIRY BREAD.

Smiles all around here!

I had planned on sewing today, however with the children around and night shifts approaching, I have opted for some R & R.

I am sure taking pics of my budding flora is classed as rest and relaxation!

Keep on Quilting

I have been hunting pinterest and blogs lately for designs for my dolls quilt swap.

All the quilty eye candy is just so delicious.  It is a double edged sword, for I need to make something which I will no doubt fall in love with, and then have to give away!!  I love giving my mini quilts away; however I have decided that I am going to make something for ME, while I also make something for my secret swap partner.  This seems to be a trend … more quilts to love, I say!

I pulled from my stash a panel which I got not long ago.  I fell in love with this when I saw it, and can see this up on my quilt inspiration wall.  Hubby might not see the signifigance!

I also grabbed some batting and a piece of pink coordinating fabric from my stash for the back.

It is now basted and ready.  I have planned to play around with my free motion quilting on this one.

Now to quilt it out!

EB DQS6

I am part of a small quilting group on line, and every year we hold a Dolls Quilt Swap.  Well it is that time of the year again … and I am in.

The EB DQS6 has produced some gorgeous quilt candy over the years.  I cannot wait to see what we all come up with!!

My partner has thankfully provided me with some ideas, has a blog I can stalk and a fabulous pinterest!

Several deigns have been whirling around in my head.

Yesterday I got busy.

Here is a sneak peek at what I am working on.

A start

1 down ... 44 to go!

Not bad for a first paper foundation piece.  Nothing like a challenge to learn something new.

Tula Pink SAL

If we all did the things we are capable of, we would astound ourselves.
- Thomas Edison

Isn’t this the truth?

My favourite fabric and quilt pattern designer, is the delightful, Tula Pink.

With an obsession with all that is Tula Pink, I have jumped at the challenge to sew something in the Tula Pink Sew AlongHosted by Sew Sweetness, with some fantastic prizes on offer (but yet to be announced … how cool would a new Bernina 820 with Tula Pink embellishments be!  I think I might faint if I won one of those!!)

I have to use up some of this gorgeous fabric which I keep promising to make into a beautiful quilt!

I keep tell myself this as I cut into a pile of fabric, which is not just any pile of fabric ... but a half yard bundle of Tula Pink’s yummy The Birds and The Bees.

Destined to be slashed and pinned into submission, hopefully to emerge something like the pattern, Space Dust … with my own twist!

I may even have time to use up some of this Hushabye, or do something with my 3/4" EPP hexagons in Parisville and Prince Charming.  Got lots to choose from.

So, am I kidding myself?

No, just cut that fabric girl!!!!!

What are you going to make?
